Privacy Policy for VoiceCmd
VoiceCmd ("the app") is developed and published by Machinaut Studios LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles. The short version: VoiceCmd recognises your speech entirely on your own computer, and does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. It works with the network switched off.
Information we collect
None. VoiceCmd does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to us or to any third party. There are no accounts, no telemetry, and no analytics. We operate no servers for this app, so there is nowhere for your data to go.
Microphone and speech recognition
VoiceCmd requests microphone access so it can hear your commands. The speech recognition model is bundled inside the app and runs on your own machine. Audio:
- is processed in memory, as a live stream, and is never written to a file;
- is never uploaded or transmitted anywhere, by us or by anyone else;
- is discarded immediately once it has been turned into text.
We never receive, access, or hold any copy of your audio, and neither does any third party. No part of recognition happens in the cloud.
Controlling your keyboard and mouse
The purpose of the app is to turn what you say into input, so it synthesises key presses, mouse clicks and mouse movement on your behalf. On macOS this requires Accessibility permission, which the operating system asks you to grant explicitly and which you can revoke at any time in System Settings. VoiceCmd uses that permission only to send the input you configured. It does not read, record, or log what you type.
Detecting which app is in front
If you enable automatic profile switching, VoiceCmd checks which application is currently in the foreground so it can load the matching set of commands. That check happens locally, the result is used immediately and not stored, and it is never transmitted.
Your commands and profiles
The commands, trigger phrases and profiles you create are stored locally on your computer, in the app's own settings location. They stay on your machine unless you deliberately export a profile to a file and share it yourself.
Actions that open other software
You can configure a command to launch an application or open a web link. When such a command runs, your operating system opens the app or link you specified, exactly as if you had opened it yourself. VoiceCmd does not add anything to that request, and any site you open in this way is governed by its own privacy policy, not ours.
Purchases
Where VoiceCmd is sold through a store, the purchase is processed entirely by that store. We do not receive or store your payment details, card information, or billing address.
Data sharing
We do not share any data with third parties, because we do not collect any.
Children's privacy
VoiceCmd does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
