Hushword
Find every word.
The leftovers spell a secret.
It looks like an ordinary word search: a grid of letters, a list of themed words, trace them out. It isn't. Every board is built so the cells no listed word touches spell a hidden phrase — and the moment you find the last word on the list, those leftover letters light up one by one and say it. No countdown, no lives, no way to lose. Just a grid, a list, and something waiting underneath it.
Live on Google Play now. The iOS build is sitting in review at Apple; the App Store button becomes a link the day they let it through.
▶ THE LOOP
HOW IT PLAYS
A word search asks you to clear a list. Hushword asks you to clear a list so that something else can be read. The generator hides the list first, counts what nothing covered, and then picks a secret of exactly that many letters — reshuffling the board until the arithmetic lands. Every pack carries a phrase for every length it might need, so there is always one waiting under there.
-
STEP ONE // TRACE
CLEAR THE LIST
Drag across touching letters in any of the eight directions — forwards or backwards — to trace a word from the list. Boards run 6×6 with five words up to 8×8 with nine, ramping inside every pack. Found words stay coloured in, like a paper puzzle.
-
STEP TWO // THE POINT
THE SECRET
Whatever the list never used is not filler. Find the last word and the spare letters wake up in order and spell a phrase, six to twenty letters long, written for that pack. Every single board has one.
-
STEP THREE // GREED
BONUS WORDS
See a real word that isn't on the list? Trace it anyway. Any dictionary word of four letters or more pays a coin, up to ten a level — enough to reward looking, not enough to make farming one board a job.
-
STUCK?
HINTS, PRICED
A hint costs 100 coins and flags a word's first letter; a full reveal costs 300. You start with 300 in the bank and earn more by playing. If you're short and an ad is loaded, the hint is free for a watched one — your choice, never a wall.
-
NO CLOCK
NOTHING RUNS OUT
No countdown, no lives, no energy meter, no board taken away from you. The only clock counts up, and only so the daily has a time to brag with — it pauses when you do. Put it down mid-word and the board is exactly where you left it, saved on your own phone.
-
OFFLINE
WORKS IN A TUNNEL
The whole dictionary and all 32 packs ship inside the app, and boards are generated on your device. Aeroplanes, basements, and dead-zone commutes all play perfectly. Only the ads need a signal.
▶ TWO WAYS IN
WHAT'S IN THE BOX
A campaign you work through at your own pace, and one puzzle a day that the whole planet gets identically. Both hide a secret; neither can be failed.
-
MODE 01 // 480 LEVELS
32 THEMED PACKS
Fifteen levels each, across Animals, Ocean, Kitchen, Garden, Bakery, Forest, Space, Carnival, Old Library, Pirates, Night Sky, Tide Pools, Old Castles and nineteen more. Every pack brings its own word pool and its own set of secrets, and gets harder as you go: 6×6, then 7×7, then 8×8. Finish one and it pays out.
-
MODE 02 // DAILY
ONE PUZZLE A DAY
A full-size board built from that calendar date, identical on every device on earth — no server hands it out, your phone computes it from the date. Solve it and keep a streak; the longer the streak, the bigger the payout, and there's a line of text you can paste at whoever needs to know how fast you were.
▶ THE HONEST BIT
WHAT IT COSTS
Hushword is free. Nothing you can buy makes a puzzle solvable that wasn't, and nothing expires, drains, or refills on a timer — there is no energy meter here because we didn't build one. Money buys fewer interruptions and a faster route to a prettier grid. That's the entire list.
-
FREE // AD-SUPPORTED
ADS, ON A LEASH
A full-screen ad only ever appears after a level is finished. Your first six levels are ad-free entirely, then at most every second level, and never less than two and a half minutes since the last one. Never mid-word, never mid-board. Those limits are in the code, not in a promise.
-
ONE-TIME PURCHASE
REMOVE ADS
Ends the between-level interruptions permanently. The opt-in ad stays available on purpose, so a free hint is still there for you when you're broke — you just never get shown one you didn't ask for.
-
COINS // OPTIONAL
A POUCH, A SATCHEL, A CHEST
Three coin packs, if you'd rather buy the hints than earn them. Coins also fall out of ordinary play — every level, every secret, every bonus word, every finished pack, every daily. Buying is a shortcut, never a gate.
-
COSMETIC ONLY
FOUR GRID THEMES
Lamplight is free and there from the start. Moon Study, Meadow Press and Rose & Wine cost 400 coins each — coins, not money. They restyle the board and nothing else.
-
NOT IN HERE
NO SUBSCRIPTION
No monthly anything, no season pass, no loot box, no daily-login casino, no "watch an ad to keep your streak". A streak you earned is not for sale back to you.
-
SUITABLE FOR
EVERYONE
No chat, no accounts, no player-made content, nobody to be matched against. Both the board generator and the bonus-word payout run against a blocklist, so nothing crude turns up in a grid or gets celebrated with a coin.
▶ ON THE RECORD
YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
Hushword asks for no permissions of its own — no camera, no microphone, no location, no contacts, no notifications. There is no account to make, no server of ours anywhere in the picture, and no analytics or crash reporter in the build. Progress, stats, streaks, settings, your coin balance and the board you're halfway through all sit in your phone's own storage; delete the app and they go with it. The dictionary and every pack ship inside the game, so the puzzles are local and work offline. Exactly two things reach the network: Google's ad network, which serves the ads, and the App Store or Google Play, which handle purchases — we never see payment details. The full, plainly-worded details live on the privacy page — the same one we submit to the App Store and Google Play.
